چکیده

In the neurotomised animals, venom-induced mean arterial pressure (MAP) and respiratory rate (RR) changes were markedly attenuated but not the heart rate (HR) changes indicating the existence of additional afferent pathway. Hence, further sets of experiments were performed to explore the afferents. Albino rats were anaesthetised with an intra-peritoneal injection of urethane (1.5 g/kg). Tracheostomy was performed to keep the airway patent. Femoral artery was cannulated proximally for the recording of blood pressure and distally to inject the chemicals/venom. The effect of venom on MAP, HR and RR were recorded at every 5 min for 60 min and presented as mean ± SEM. Intra-arterial injection of Mesobuthus tamulus venom elicits vasosensory reflexes producing immediate hyperventilatory, intermediate hypertensive and delayed bradycardiac responses in anaesthetised rats. After ipsilateral nerve sectioning, the RR and MAP changes were attenuated significantly but not the HR changes. Pretreatment with neurotomy plus vagotomy plus local anaesthetics, blocked all the venom-induced cardiorespiratory responses viz changes in RR, MAP and HR. The observations of this study provide evidence for afferent pathways in somatic nerves and also through the perivascular nerve plexuses.

B1-kinin receptors modulate Mesobuthus tamulus venom-induced vasosensory reflex responses in anesthetized rats

OBJECTIVE Intra-arterial injection of Mesobuthus tamulus (BT) venom produces reflex vasosensory responses modulating cardiorespiratory parameters in albino rats. The present study was conducted to understand the role of kinin receptors in modulating vasosensory reflexes evoked by BT venom. MATERIALS AND METHODS In urethane-anesthetized rats, tracheostomy was performed to keep the airway paten...

Phenyldiguanide activates cardiac receptors to produce responses by involving three different efferent pathways in anaesthetized rats.

The present study was undertaken to determine the afferent and efferent pathways involved in the phenyldiguanide (PDG)-induced reflex response in rats. Intravenous (iv) injection of PDG (10 microg/kg), produced hypotension, bradycardia and apnea over a period of time. Bilateral vagotomy abolished the PDG-induced reflex changes. Atropine (2 mg/kg; iv) blocked only the bradycardiac response produ...

Transient receptor potential channel A1 and noxious cold responses in rat cutaneous nociceptors

The role of transient receptor potential channel A1 (TRPA1) in noxious cold sensation remains unclear. Some data support the hypothesis that TRPA1 is a transducer of noxious cold whilst other data contest it. In this study we investigated the role of TRPA1 in cold detection in cutaneous nociceptors in vivo using complementary experimental approaches. We used noxious withdrawal reflex electromyo...

The effect of pinna reflex and dynamic stretch on spike discharge of single ?-axons and spindle afferents in caudal muscle spindles in rat

The ?-axons supplying muscle spindle (MS) induce a particular pattern of activity in spindle Ia and II afferents on contraction. From a dynamic viewpoint, the Ia shows increasing spike rates, but II-afferents do not show any activity. For evaluation of nerve fiber activity, spike amplitude (SA) is suggested to measure it as well as its benefit of diagnosing clinical symptoms. This paper aims to...
